Two Hundredth Anniversary of the Victory of Poltava
Instituted June 27, 1909.
Light bronze Medal awarded to all members of the armed forces and civilian employees who in 1909 were connected with regiments or army units that had taken part in the original battle of Poltava in 1709 and as of 1909 preserved their original names; to all generals, commisioned officers, non-commissioned officers, enlisted men, cadets, civilian official who took part in the parade at Poltava on the day celebrating the two hundredth anniversary of the victory; to individuals who took part in the preparation of festivities; to official representatives present at the festivities, and to all direct descendants, on the male side of generals and commanders of individual units who participated in the battle of Poltova.
Obverse has a bust of Peter the Great facing left. Reverse has the Inscription, POLTOVA 1709, KNOW THIS OF PETER, LIFE IS NOT DEAR TO HIM, IT IS ONLY THAT RUSSIA SHOULD LIVE.
