| 1890 Troika Niello Silver Case |
Russian silver niello cigarette case with a "troika" horse sleigh on a front
cover, surrounded by intricate niello pattern on both sides. Dated 1890
Moscow, work master's initials in cyrillic "DN" (Dmitriy Nikolaev) ,
84 silver mark. The case has had significant amount of prior use and
moderate wear to the niello and front picture. Multiple small dent and
scratches on both surfaces, as well as two silver cracks at the upper
corners. The hinge is in working order, case closes well.
The back cover has engraved initials of the original owner.
Still an interestingand original piece of 19th century of Russian
Imperial silver in spite of almost 120 year history and use!
Size 4" by 2 1/2" or 10.3 cm by 6.5 cm.
