A Wonderfully Well Preserved Russian Solid Silver Snuff Box,
made at 1896-1908 in Moscow, Russian silver items of this
period have become highly sought after in recent years -
making this a real investment item,& a great collector's piece.
Hallmarks:
- The snuff box is hallmarked on the inside of the lid and the
main body (see images).
- It bears (inside the base of the box) the assayer's mark "I.L",
in Cyrillic for Ivan Lebedkin, who was active as an assayer
between 1896-1908.
- The box is also marked with 84 silver standard,and silversmith
"A.P" in cyrillic inside the lid and the base.
Dimensions:
- It measures 10.8 cm / 4 1/4" (length) x 6.5 cm / 2 1.5" (width)
It weighs 112 grammes or 4.1 troy ounces
Condition:
- The box is in good condition for its age.
- The lid opens and shuts easily and firmly.
- There is minor surface wear, scratching & dents.
