An antique Russian silver tea glass holder, 84 Imperial silver mark St. Petersburg, circa 1896 - 1908, maker's initials PJS in Latin. Owners monogram N. SH. and an engraved name "Shipunov" in Cyrillic. Nikolai Shipunov was an officer of the Russian Imperial Army who immigrated with his family following 1917 Revolution and eventually settled in Southern California. The tea glass holder is in excellent vintage condition with no significant defects or evidence of restoration. Diameter of base 3 1/4" or 8 cm , diameter of the opening 3" or 8 cm; hight to the top of the handle 4 1/2" or 11.5 cm. Weight 5.2 oz or 150 gram. Rare example of Russian Imperial silver work. Comes from an old time European family estate.
